Sanctity of Human Life Sunday - Sunday, January 22nd, we will celebrate the enormous worth of each and every human being! Pastor Steve will share an inspiring message showing how humans are God's Masterpiece...that means YOU! We will then take a special offering to send to the Mother Of Life Pregnancy Care Center here in Westerly.

Coffeehouse - Friday, January 27th, we'll be inspired by the music of Bill and Kay Pere! Please check out their bio and history at www.billpere.com. Emmy award nominees, the Peres have been involved in the professional music for over 30 years. He is the President and Executive Director of the CT Songwriter's Association, has had many articles published in nationally known music magazines and has also written a book. This will be a wonderful night of free family-friendly music complete with gourmet coffee, beverages and sweet treats (for a donation). The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. and all ages are welcome!

Happy Birthday to Us! - Sunday, January 8th we celebrated our SECOND birthday! Many invited a friend for this Friend Day as Pastor Steve share a dynamic message on friendship. After the Celebration Service, we had birthday cake and treats in our small cafe. In the evening, we had a MIRACLE NIGHT service with Rev. Bob Hazlett from Touch of Fire Ministries. (www.touchoffire.org). Besides multiple prophetic "words," we saw at least four (4) healings!

Women’s Bible Study – Ladies are invited to participate in this 8 week Bible Study which started Monday, January 16th, from 1:30-3 at Ocean Community Christian Church. The focus of discussion will be the book “Finding Contentment” by Sharon Steele. Books are available at the Welcome Center for $10 starting.
 
Coffee & Questions - Some have begun reading through the New Testament as we start out the New Year. Sunday mornings have been set aside for discusion and questions on what has been read. Join us each week at 9AM. Come, learn and be inspired!

What Happens When Women Say Yes to God?This Ocean's 12 small group focused on "What Happens When Women say Yes To God." It was a great time for making friends, being inspired, and learning how to apply the principles of God's Word to daily life. MANY positive reports came out of this group...and NO negative ones!!
 
 
Get a FREE Haircut for the Holidays & Disney’s “A Christmas Carol” – That's right! Saturday, December 17th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., we offered FREE haircuts right here at Ocean Community Christian Church! Hair stylists Sandra Suppa and Erin Sieczkiewicz who attend here faithfully offered their complimentary services for our church and community on this one day…wassn’t that great?! Then at 6 p.m., we showed this great family movie with Jim Carrey!

New here or Checking us out? - The pastor and his family hosted our complimentary Newcomer’s Luncheon on Sunday, November 20 right after the Celebration Service.
 
 
Saturday Service Day – A heart for a God inspires a hand to man. Followers of Jesus seek to imitate our Master who Himself was the greatest servant ever. On Saturday, November 19th (9:30 a.m.-12), this good-looking bunch of people extended a hand to our fellow human beings at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center.
 
Thanksgiving Eve Worship Service for the Community – We were part of an inspirational interdenominational service celebrating Thanksgiving together with other local church-goers. This was on Wednesday, November 23 at 7 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel, 11 Avondale Road, Westerly. Several local pastors participated along with some of the Central Baptist Choir…it was fun!
 
The Tifton Carver Worship Band were our special musical guests for our November Coffeehouse! We had a fun night of God-honoring music, building friendships, great coffee and sweet treats on Friday, November 18th at 6:30 p.m. We also hadsome local talent who performed as well.
 
 
 
Rev. Gay Mori – This dear lady is one of our faithful attendees and is an ordained Church of God minister. She preached her heart our on Sunday morning, November 13th! Our church also honored Pastor Crino and his family in a grand way!
 
 
 
 
 
To Save A Life– We showed this INCREDIBLY relevant and powerful movie on Friday night, November 4th.  We now provide top quality popcorn with our professional popcorn maker plus PLENTY of candy and beverages available for a reasonable donation.

More Missionaries, More Souls! - We all made pledges on Sunday, October 30th after hearing missionary Gordon Wilmot tell about the life of William Carey...very inspiring, challenging and perspective-adjusting. (Is that a word? ) We are now able to DOUBLE the number of missionaries we can support in the next 12 months! If you didn't get to pledge yet, please join us in reaching more souls across the globe by doing so this Sunday! 
 
 
 
 
  • Young people 12-18 came to our Youth Cookout and a PG Movie Night, Friday, September 2nd from 6-10 at the Crino's (32 Cosmo Street, Westerly).  Cost was just $5 and first-timers went FREE.
  • - Following our Sunday morning Celebration Service (which starts at 10 a.m.) on Sunday, September 4th, we gathered together to do what most of us LOVE to do...eat and enjoy each other's company! Each household attending the dinner brought a family-sized Main Dish plus either a side dish (or salad) or a dessert. It was delicious and a lot of fun!
 
Monthly Prayer Gathering - A praying church is a powerful and peaceful one. Tuesday, September 6th at 6:30 p.m. we gathered for a time of worship, teaching from the Bible abourt praying and then a time of prayer together.  Together, we discovered how Jesus' teachings known as "The Be-Attitudes" can help us to pray more effectively.
 
 
Complimentary Family Movie Night! We showed the movie SOUL SURFER, on Friday, September 9th at 6 p.m. and then again at 8:15. This Tri-Star film was just in theaters across America recently. It is the "incredible true story of Bethany Hamilton," the young surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack and overcame incredible odds. It is truly an inspiring story for all ages! This movie stars Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood and Dennis Quaid. There was no charge to attend. Popcorn, beverages and goodies were available for a donation.
 
Catching God's Wave For Your Life - This is the name of the Sunday morning teaching series Pastor Steve will present with relevant topics from the movie. These four messages from the Bible will begin on Sunday, September 11th and will  will also coincide with the study guide for our Ocean's 12 home groups!
 
Ocean's 12 Small Groups - This 5-session exciting and fun group will kicked off Tuesday, September 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Dave and Carolyn Nichols (15 West Beach Road, Charlestown, RI). There is also a SECOND group that started Thursday, September 15th and meets at the church each week as well. Using the Soul Surfer Study Guide, our Pastor is facilitating the discussion at both of these each week.  (All ages are welcome though children under 12 need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian and there is no specific childcare provided)
 
 
Crimson Rain really rocked the house at our August Coffeehouse on Friday, August 26th! Don't miss September's coffeehouse on the 23rd with Brian and Sue Samuel!
 
 
Lake Compounce - Our teens had a blast on Wednesday, August 24th at this awesome family theme and amusement park! We have great events for our youth.
 
 
3rd Annual Movie on the Beach Outreach - Tuesday, August 23rd, we partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to show the New Karate Kid movie. We gave away t-shirts, back-packs and a new bike!
 
 
Monthly Prayer Service - Colossians 4:2 instructs Christ-followers to "be devoted to prayer."Join us on Tuesday, July 5th at 6:30 p.m. for a time of worship, instruction on prayer and then bringing our needs to the Lord together.
 
Progressive Dinner for Teens - Friday, July 8th, our teens went to three (3) different homes for three (3) different courses of a four (4) couse meal! The final course was desserts at the church with our usual wacky and fun games to follow! (This was from 6-10 p.m., and cost just $3 required) 
 
Honoring Graduates Sunday, June 26 we honor several all of our High School and College Graduates with a beautiful gift and special prayer!
 
 
Ocean Community Coffeehouse! - We had a relaxing night of Christian music with several singers and the band Further Still!  This great event was Friday, June 24 and started at 6:30 p.m.  We had beverages and homemade pastries for a donation. Don't miss it our NEXT one July 29th
 
 
Honoring Dads - All dads received a special gift during the service on Father's Day! Also, Pastor Steve shared an inspirational message from the life of Jesus' stepfather Joseph...called "How to Raise a King."  Dads have a huge impact on us and we wanted to honor them always, but especially on their special day!
 
 
Following Jesus’ Example – On Sunday, June 12th, we had our service at the First Seventh-Day Baptist Church in Ashaway, RI. Pastors Dave & Jennifer Stall allowed us to hold service there so we could use their baptistery! We congratulate Luis Ortiz, Justine Plaisted and her dad Larry Plaisted for taking the plunge for Jesus!
 
 
New Life– This is our new Ocean’s 12 discussion group to help seekers and new believers on the journey of following Jesus. The group will meet at church Sunday, May 22nd right after the celebration service for a time of connecting with new friends and new truths. This is a great place to check out Christianity is for you and/or to connect well if you’ve already decided it is. The books for this group are available at the Welcome Center for just $6. (May 22nd we will discuss chapter two and Sunday night, May 29th there will be no group so participants can spend time with loved ones)
 
The Gift of ForgivenessSince it took time to get into the struggles that spark unforgiveness, it also takes time and effort to move past the hurt and to heal. Join us for our Ocean’s 12 Home Group Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Pastor’s home (32 Cosmo Street, Westerly).
 
 
 “…now is the time to seek the Lord…” (Hosea 10:12) Let’s come together and do just that at our monthly HELP! Prayer Service on Wednesday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m.
 
Ocean Community Coffeehouse! – Friday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. we had live music with  solos from Caleb Crino and the Christian Band Thirty11Twelve!!! The Sanctuary was set up like a café and we had coffee and treats available for a donation. Our next one is June 24th!
 
 
Good Friday! -We hosted a special time of Communion following a (complimentary) showing here of The Passion of the Christ at 6:30 p.m. on April 22nd.  This amazing depiction of the sufferings of Jesus Christ was open to all and absolutely free. (This film is rated “R” for it graphic scenes of violence) The movie was followed by a brief time of Communion for those who wanted to celebrate the Lord's Supper together.
 
 
Stations of the CrossThe Westerly-Pawcatuck Clergy Association hosted this special interdenominational observance and reflections on the suffering of Christ Good Friday at 10 a.m. in Wilcox Park.
 
New at Ocean Community? - The Pastor and his family lead a special Newcomer’s Brunch here on Saturday, May 7 at 9:30 a.m. We served a delicious meal, the Crinos shared what our church believes, our vision and answered questions of those who attended. We have this complimentary and fun event about every six-eight weeks!!
 
 
National Youth Day - Sunday April 17th was not only Palm Sunday...it was also the day we set aside to celebrate our teenagers in the Assemblies of God! Wehad three (3) of our young people display their artistic abilities. Caleb Crino sang a solo (In Christ Alone), Jamie Barber will performed a beautiful worship dance (to Chris Tomlin's "I Will Rise"), and Seth Crino displayed his beautiful 2-D drawing (True Love Waits) in our Ocean Cafe. We also had as our guest speaker, Rev. Tim Moen! Tim (and his wife Tina) have been our Youth Directors for the Southern New England Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God serving faithfully since 2004.
 
 
The Case For Easter! – It’s been said, “The Resurrection IS Christianity.” So true! Our most recent Ocean’s 12 home group started Tuesday night March 15th and ran until April 19th. We met Tuesdays from 6:30-8:15 at the Nichol’s house at 15 West Beach Road, Charlestown, RI. We've discussed the complimentary little book our Pastor handed out in church on March 13th as well as the DVD, Prophecies of the Passion. (This group was open to all ages)
 
 
Our Guest Speaker & Musician – We welcomed Adam Croft of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship on Sunday, April 10th!  IVCF USA is an interdenominational evangelical campus mission serving on college and university campuses nationwide.  Adam lives in Providence and is on full-time staff at URI. He did a wonderful job of challenging and inspiring us that day!
 
After Hours – Wednesday, April 13th from 5-7 p.m., we hosted this monthly event put on by the Chamber of Commerce. We honored and served about 25 local business and community leaders. We are ALL about serving our community!
 
W.A.R.M. Bowl-a-Thon – We thank these good looking guys (in Fred Flintstone ties!) who represented the Lord and our church Sunday, April 3rd at the Alley Katz Bowling Lanes! They raised hundreds of dollars to help the local shelter! Also, thanks to those who sponsored them as well as those who came to cheer them on…what a great day!
 
 
Youth Rally! – Our teenagers connected with several other youth groups Friday night, March 18 at Providence Assembly of God. This was a great time of worship, the Word, friendly connections and a demonstration for the Fine Arts Festival. 
 
 
Water Baptism – In the New Testament, water baptism by full immersion always follows belief. Sunday, March 20 at 6 p.m. we teamed up with our "mother" church and baptized a dozen peoepl (between both churches) for Jesus! This took place at Seaport Community Church in Groton, CT.  (www.seaportcommunitychurch.org 
 
 
PG Night for Teens! - (PG = Pizza, Games & A PG Movie)Friday night, March 4th from 6-10 p.m. here at the church. Pizza, popcorn, snacks and beverages. Games, X-Box and LOTS of laughs...It was a BLAST! First timers came FREE! Cost was $5 for the refreshments.
 
 
Newcomer’s Luncheon –Several new households met our pastor and his family as well as other new people to our church Sunday, March 6th following the Celebration Service. The Crino’s shared their story, why they started this church, the dream for the future, and what our church believes. There was also a time of questions and answers.
 
Shabbat! – Sunday night, March 6th at 6 p.m., our building was used by the Messianic Congregation of the Mishkahn David Messianic Synagogue! These Jewish people who love Jesus fill our building with beautiful worship! (If you have questions about their synagogue, please click here to ask Elder Brian Samuel)
 
 
PG Night for Teens! – Our young people were part of the monthly youth night at Seaport in Groton Friday night, February 18th from 6-10. They saw the powerful movie To Save A Life on the big screen there.  Seaport has this event on the 3rd Friday of each month and our teens usually join them. Free Legal Clinic for Health Care Powers of AttorneyAttorney  (and Westerly Town Council Member) Campbell Fields offered complimentary legal counsel  here on two consecutive Saturdays! The first opportunity was on Saturday,  February 19 and the second on the 26 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Attorney Wade Jensen (who attends here faithfully) was also on hand to offer his legal advice as well. This was open to the public.  
 
 
 
We congratulate Seth Crino for officially receiving the honor of National Merit Scholar!  He is one (1) of only 15,000 in the entire nation! Great job, Seth!
 
Youth Night- Friday, February 4th from 6-10, our young people got together and had a BLAST. From 6-8 they had Pizza, Pins and Pepsi as Alley Katz Bowling Lanes in Westerly. From 8-10, they went back to the church and played wacky game, X-Box and had more snacks...check out the pictures below and join us March 4th for our next one!
 
 
How Could God Allow Suffering & Evil? – A good question everyone wrestles with. This is the topic at our latest 6-week Ocean’s 12 Group at the (Westerly, RI) home of one of our attendees in Westerly. This spiritual discussion group will be held on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:15 until March 8th. For directions call Cheri at (781) 367-0238.
 
Corporate Prayer brings Corporate Power – We began special times of corporate worship, teaching on prayer and seeking the Lord this year! These seasons of corporately seeking the Lord together are on selected Wednesday nights.  January 19 at 6:30 p.m. The next HELP! Night Prayer Service is planned for Wednesday, March 2nd...join us!
 
Seeking God’s Best – We started the year off right by joining in with the Assemblies of God Week of Prayer January 2-8, 2011. The Bible and history are full of stories of Divine intervention as a result of fasting and prayer. We had a special time of passionate prayer on Wednesday night, January 5th at 6:30 for all those who wanted to seek the Lord.
